He became the youngest Japanese ever to win a prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition, and began a full-fledged performance career. In 2010, his 14-hour concert “Chopin in the Spirit of Chopin,” held to commemorate the bicentennial of Chopin’s birth, was recognized by Guinness World Records, and the following year he broke his own Guinness World Record. The following year, he broke his own Guinness record. In addition, he successfully completed an unprecedented project to perform all 240 pieces composed by Chopin during his lifetime in three days, and released it as a DVD. In 2020, the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, he will accomplish the feat of performing the complete sonatas in two days and release a DVD containing the complete works. His latest CD is “Sachio Yokoyama Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 & No. 2, etc.” ( Sony Music ), a live recording of his 30th anniversary concert. He is also active as an educator and music producer. He has taught as a visiting professor at numerous music academies and is the president of the Japan Paderewski Society, continuing the legacy of the late Ms. Hiroko Nakamura.
