Model Course

This rickshaw course takes visitors on a rickshaw ride to spots where they can learn more about historic Karuizawa. *These spots are also related to the Karuizawa Web Test.

You can also make a reservation for a rickshaw by clicking "Click here for rickshaw reservations" at the bottom of the page. Our jinrikisha drivers know Karuizawa very well and will take you to the best spots according to the season.

Karuizawa Station

Base for sightseeing in Karuizawa

Karuizawa Station is easily accessible by the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line, which takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes from Tokyo Station and 2 hours from Kanazawa Station, and is the base for sightseeing in Karuizawa, served by the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line and the Shinano Railway.

Karuizawakai Tennis Court

Tennis court associated with the Imperial Family

A members-only tennis court located on the east side of Old Karuizawa Ginza Street, at the corner of Shaw Street and Auditorium Street.
It is famous as the place where Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress met. You can view it from outside the fence and enjoy the atmosphere.

Karuizawa Union Church

Quaint wooden church

Established in 1897, the church has a long history that transcends denominational differences.
Even today, the philosophy of the founding philosophy is maintained and meetings, music concerts, Japanese language school, and other events are held.

Manpyo Hotel

A classic hotel representing Japan

Mampei Hotel was the first Western-style hotel in Karuizawa, and continues to convey its history and culture to this day.
The "Honkan Alpine Pavilion," which has been a favorite of celebrities and political figures from Japan and abroad, is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan.

Kashima no Mori Dori

A large tree with the history of the villa area

This area of Karuizawa is lined with large villa complexes.
Surrounded by mossy stone walls and trees, visitors can enjoy the fresh air typical of Karuizawa.
Please enjoy the scenery of Karuizawa's villa area surrounded by beautiful trees, which can be toured only with a jinrikisha, along with the jinrikisha driver's stories.

Return to the Karuizawa sightseeing rickshaw stop,
This will be the end of the "Nature" and "Landscape" course that will visit both the Mampaira and Kashima areas.

Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza Dori, where the rickshaw stop is located, is the main street of Kyu-Karuizawa. Both sides of the 750-meter-long shopping street are lined with long-established bakeries, coffee shops, souvenir stores, and eateries.
