This special exhibition commemorates the one-year anniversary of the death of Inada Nada, a writer and psychiatrist known for his humorous and satirical writings. This is the first exhibition to look back on Inada’s literary career in Karuizawa, where he spent summers for half a century. There will be a section introducing new perspectives on Nada, who married a French woman and educated her four daughters in France, France and Karuizawa, and the Japanese and the French. Approximately 200 items of materials will be on display.

“The Family Speaks of France for Nada Nada.”

The family members who have seen Nada Inada most closely in her works such as “Papa no okurimono” will share their many episodes and memories in the highland forest.

Director Otohiko Kaga, who has been associated with Nada Nada since the 1960s in a similar capacity as a writer and psychiatrist, will talk about his memories of Nada. In addition, actor Asako Yashiro will read from Nada’s works.
