Osakaya Furniture Store

In 1892, in response to requests from foreign missionaries and diplomats, Michijiro Kawasaki, the founder of Osakaya Furniture Store, carved furniture for villas, and Karuizawa carving was born.
More than 130 years later, Osakaya still continues to carve.
The reason for this is that "carving (decoration) has the power to move people's hearts...in other words, it has the power to create an emotional response.
When people see Karuizawa carvings, they feel happy, joyful, and energized, and the carvings put "feelings" in their hearts that are not found in other furniture.
Through the creation of furniture with these characteristics, we would like to continue to provide everyone with "a life with emotion".
