Anne of Green Gables, a novel by Canadian woman writer Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Set on Prince Edward Island, said to be the most beautiful island in the world, the story of orphan Anne Shirley growing up has been read around the world for more than a century and is loved by many fans. Hanako Muraoka, the first Japanese translator of “Anne of Green Gables,” was one of the cultural figures who often visited Karuizawa. A full-scale “Anne of Green Gables” exhibition will be held in Karuizawa, a place associated with “Anne of Green Gables.
