The “Gran Fondo Karuizawa” is finally celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The main event is the “Gran Fondo Karuizawa 2000m,” a full-scale mountain long ride course of approximately 95 km around the foot of Mount Asama starting from Karuizawa, with a cumulative elevation of approximately 2000 meters.
The “Gran Fondo Karuizawa 2400m” is an even harder course for advanced racers, covering approximately 115 kilometers and with a cumulative elevation of approximately 2400 meters.
The “Gourmet Fondo” and “Tandem Fondo,” in which participants enjoy gourmet food while cycling through Karuizawa in early summer with friends and family, will be held in an orienteering style in which participants are free to plan their own courses and pass checkpoints at predetermined times. In addition, “Enjoy Karuizawa,” a 50-kilometer course with a cumulative elevation of approximately 500 meters, has been newly established. This is not only a great way to get acclimated to the start of the season, but also a fun and casual event for those who have just started biking. Since the event is open to participants from elementary school age, it is also a great opportunity for parents and children to make their debut in the event.

■Grand Fond Karuizawa 2000m
This is the regular course of the Gran Fondo Karuizawa.
Starting from Karuizawa, the course circles the foot of Mount Asama. Challenge the mountain Gran Fondo with an elevation gain of 1,924m. With the three advantages of distance, accumulated elevation, and time limit, the goal is to finish the race!
The souvenir for completing the long ride is an original “handlebar top cap (machined and anodized aluminum)”!

Starting from Karuizawa, the tour circles around the foot of Mt. The highest elevation is 1,732m! The finish rate has always exceeded 90 since the first event %超え、最近3年間は95%, making this course suitable for advanced runners.

This is a premium event to enjoy a special highland town while cycling through Karuizawa in early summer. This is a bullvee style event where participants set their own course and pass through checkpoints within a set time. Bicycles and helmets are provided, and there are also plans for participants to come empty-handed.

The Tandem Fondo Karuizawa
Couples ride tandem bicycles together and cycle on public roads. This is a bullvee style tour where you set your own course and pass through checkpoints within a set time. This is a rare plan unique to Karuizawa where you can ride a tandem bicycle. (Course and menu are the same as “The Gourmet Fondo Karuizawa”)
*Visually impaired persons are also welcome to attend.

Let’s enter together with your friends! This event is open to elementary school students and up, so it is also a great opportunity for parents and children to make their debut in a competition.
