Karuizawa Botanical Garden

Spot

The Karuizawa Botanical Garden is a botanical garden focusing on plants native to the Karuizawa Highlands. On an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, approximately 1,600 species of trees, plants, and flowers in about 145 families are collected and displayed throughout the four seasons. Plants belonging to the same family are planted in a series of locations so that they can be compared.
The park has springs, wetlands, and slopes, which are used to plant a variety of plants. Observation pathways have been established to allow visitors to see all parts of the park.
There is an administration building with a rest area for visitors, an Azumaya, and an exhibition hall that mainly introduces the plants of Karuizawa.
At the entrance of the park, photos of flowers and fruits that can be seen at any given time are posted, so why not take a walk while reading the pamphlet? Tens of thousands of primroses, the town flower, are planted.
