Ichibodo, with its white-walled storehouse structure and large zelkova sign, was established in 1927 in the center of the old Karuizawa Ginza, and now the third generation of the company and its craftsmen continue the tradition of producing custom-made Karuizawa carved furniture and accessories in the workshop in the back of the store. Ichibodo's Karuizawa carved furniture has been delivered to missionaries' villas and the former Mikasa Hotel. The furniture has been used in the guest rooms and lobby of the Mampei Hotel since the first generation and continues to stand the test of time. The first floor of the store houses original furniture and accessories, and the second floor is a showroom for Karuizawa carved furniture such as dining sets, chests, dressers, and Buddhist altars.
