Significance of presenting this concert from Karuizawa

This concert will be held for the fifth time this year.
Karuizawa has been home to many great men and women who have devoted their lives to the quest for world peace. The spirit of Alexander Croft Shaw, Inazo Nitobe, Rabindranath Tagore, Kanzo Uchimura, Shuichi Kato, Kenzaburo Oe, and many others, along with history and culture, lives on in this unique place called Karuizawa. And now, living at the beginning of the 21st century, we are faced with a new reality that we must cherish as human beings. I find it deeply meaningful to transmit the voices of these predecessors from here in Karuizawa.
Since last year, we have been inviting elementary, junior high, and high school students and those under 18 years old to this performance for free. We would like to send a message to the children who live in this age and will lead the future, through music, to think about various countries and the importance of respecting and honoring the irreplaceable existence of all people living on the earth. We hope that the music will remind the children of the various countries of our time and remind them of the importance of respecting and honoring the irreplaceable existence of all people living on the earth.
