The Shiozawa Lake area is a diverse area with many cultural facilities such as art museums and a literature museum, as well as an athletic park nearby. Karuizawa Tagliassen (fee required), centered around Lake Shiozawa, has a promenade, an English rose garden, and many other attractions.
Advice: There are many sights to see, so make sure you have plenty of time to spare. From Nakakaruizawa Station, walk about 1 hour to the central gate of Karuizawa Tagliassen ( see “Karuizawa South Route” ).

It is a vast area south of the Shinano Railway and National Route 18, designated as a scenic area and an urbanization control area, with a landscape unaffected by development, and many scenic views of Mount Asama. Let’s take a walk along the Onna-kaido Road, which used to be a back road to Nakasendo, and take a tour around the Karuizawa South area.
Advice》There are few stores along the way, so bring food and drink with you. For facilities around Lake Shiozawa, see “Route around Kazakoshi and Lake Shiozawa.
