Various events will be held during this period when the English Rose Garden, with 2,000 roses of 1,800 varieties in full bloom, is at its best. With its soft sunlight, deep morning mist, and large temperature difference between day and night, Karuizawa’s roses are blessed with lovely, neat petals and strong fragrance, and this is the best time of year to view them. Please enjoy viewing the roses, participating in events, and having a good time.

Living with plants that bird sing – Living with plants that bird sing –
Lotus Garden (Yamagata) will decorate the central gate with seasonal flowers. With the concept of birds, we will express plants, life, and art. Eero Aamio will create a photo spot with bird motifs in Thaliassen. The latest outdoor garden goods from Scandinavia will be sold in the Thaliassen store.

Workshop Making birdhouses with chalk paint

Making a birdhouse using chalk paint. This one uses water-based chalk and wax to make a birdhouse that can be displayed outside. It is also perfect for interior decoration. You can create an antique or colorful atmosphere.

Yuka Murayama Profile
Born in Tokyo in 1964, he graduated from Rikkyo University.
In 1993, she won the Shosetsu Subaru New Writers Award for her debut novel “Tenshi no Tamago (Angel’s Egg)”; in 2003, she won the Naoki Prize for “Hoshitachi no Boat”; and in 2009, she won the Chuo Koron Literary Award, the Shimasei Love Literature Award, and the Shibata Renzaburo Award for “Double Fantasy. She currently lives in Karuizawa with her four cats. In her essays “Can’t Breathe Without a Cat” and “Momiji’s Words,” she vividly describes her memories of her beloved cat Momiji (who also appeared in NHK’s program “Nekomentary”), with whom she spent about 18 years, as well as her life in each of the four seasons. Her main publications include the “How to Make Delicious Coffee” series, “Tenshi” series, “Hatsukoi” and “Matsurahi,” and “Ravian Rose,” which is set in Karuizawa.

Buried in rose petals – TANABATA in ROSE BED

Lotus Garden will exhibit a work representing a bed of plants and roses inspired by “Sleeping Beauty” on a floating island by a hidden lake. This is an installation that visitors can experience by taking pictures and touching the space covered with rose petals. Please enjoy the installation.
